Katja Herbers is child of the violinist Vera Beths and oboist Werner Herbers. As a child she travelled to America together with her mother as the L'Archibudelli chamber group toured. Her mother remarried cellist Anner Bylsma and her father remarried costume designer Leonie Poliak, who introduced her to theater.
